Communication is Key

          Communication is key! It'll help any form of relationship! Don't dwell on the negatives! Be humble to hear what is being discussed and advised. You have to know yourself. Read the article, “Talk About Happiness”by Edwin O. Haroblen from the February 1993 Ensign edition.

           Are you kind when discussing things? It's more than just talking – it's getting the job done – respect between each other. The more the couple talks to each other, the more happy they are. Don't let it build up and explode later. No one can read minds (no matter how much we want them to). Those who are only interested in themselves don't communicate. Without good communication it's almost impossible to fall in love. Be honest with each other how you feel. Allow yourself to be vulnerable.

           Take off all the layers and talk about what's really bugging you. Don't beat around the bush. Learn to listen and to listen to learn. Set aside your own will and pride and connect soul to soul one with another.

           Maybe try the good bad sandwich. Start off with things that you see that are good about them. Then, discuss the things that are bugging you. End it with with more that you love about them.

           Apply these communication skills with your Heavenly Father. Let the prayer come from the heart of your thoughts and emotions. Practice also on how you respond to His responses.

           Be honest with your feelings – are you doing all you can? Are you honest with yourself in your efforts? Are you willing to admit, “I'm lacking right now – but I'll repent and do better.”
